CLASSES & PROJECTS
It can be confusing figuring out just where YOU fit at Stray Cat Studio. We like to have something for everyone. There's no one "right" way to start or finish, but a trajectory of learning and getting involved typically looks a bit like this:
Here's How it works!
TAKE A SMALL PROJECT
In a guided 2 hour class, you can try it out and see if you like clay & art.
TAKE A CLASS
Go a little deeper in your clay skills and knowledge. Our 8-week classes and Skill-Building Seminars are here to help you gain skills in clay, no matter what stage of the process you're in!
Have access to the Studio and work at your own pace for an economical fee.
BECOME A MEMBER!
Make this your home studio! Work side-by-side with other blossoming artists as you have storage, 24/7 access, and discounted clay.
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced potter, classes & camps are intended to teach you something new, as well as let you have some fun exploring the fantastic medium of clay.
While adult and teen classes will focus on basic wheel throwing or hand-building skills for beginners or Intermeditate levels, classes and camps for kids will expose them to the fun messiness of "playing in the mud." They will bring home fantastic projects that will be truly beautiful, educational and useful. The classes can be tailored to meet the specific interests of any group or age, but will generally cover tasks associated with producing finished pottery on the wheel or hand-building.
Content covered in class: wedging and clay preparation, hand-building or wheel throwing techniques for bowls, cylinders and mug forms, trimming, pulling handles, a variety of surface decorating techniques, and glazing.
Fee includes: EVERYTHING! That is, instruction, all your clay, use of in-studio tools and glazes, bisque and glaze firings and use of clay studio facilities for practice in between classes. No prior experience necessary, ages 6 and up.
Adult Classes are NON REFUNDABLE but may be transferred to another class at a later date if scheduling issues arrive. Stray Cat must be informed of this ONE WEEK prior to the start date.
(2 hrs. total)
Learn step by step how to make the group's chosen project with our teacher. You will start with a basic ball of clay and be walked through how to construct each project for the first hour. Next, enjoy our selection of stamps and design tools to decorate your artwork to truly make it your own. Then you will have the chance to glaze your piece that same day! Projects will be available for pick up within two weeks. Everything made at Stray Cat Studio is microwave safe, dish washer safe, and food safe. We recommend you bring your outdoor projects in over the winter.
